Using the Filter

This feature allows you to filter the list of files in the currently open archive that is shown in the main PicoZip window. This is useful when an archive contains a lot of files, and you are only interested in certain files.

To show the Filter toolbar, choose Show Filter from the View menu. The filter toolbar will appear above the files listing. You can make use of the * or ? wildcard in your filter.

The * wildcard character represents zero, one or more characters, while the ? wildcard character represents exactly one character.

Here are some examples of ways to use the filter:

· *.doc : Only show files with the extension .doc

· read*.* : Shows any files that starts with “read”, such as readme.txt, ReadFirst.doc, read.1st, Read.exe

· db????.xls : Shows only files with exactly 4 characters between “db” and “.xls”, such as db1999.xls, dbfast.xls, db_123.xls

· setup.exe : Shows only files with the name “setup.exe”.

Filters that you recently used are automatically saved, and you can click on the down-arrow button in the filter edit box to see a list of them. You can click on any filter listed to immediately apply it.

To clear the filter, click on the Remove Filter button. To hide the Filter toolbar, repeat the same steps you took to show it.
