PicoZip Recovery Tool Selecting the Recover ZIP Password menu item in the Tools menu will run PicoZip Recovery Tool. If you have a Zip or self-extracting Zip archive open, it will be automatically passed on to PicoZip Recovery Tool. PicoZip Recovery Tool is an easy-to-use FREE add-on program for PicoZip that can help you recover lost or forgotten passwords from password protected Zip files. Self-extracting Zip files are also supported. If you have not installed PicoZip Recovery Tool, you can download it here ( http://www.picozip.com/prt ). This program supports two methods of password recovery: · Brute Force method : The encrypted file is tested with all possible permutations of a range of characters that you select. This method is time consuming for long passwords, but can ensure that all possible passwords are tested.
· Dictionary method : The encrypted file is tested with all words obtained from a dictionary file. Using a dictionary file that contains 650,000 words, it should only take a few seconds to test all the words. This method is very fast, but will only work if a common word was used to password protect the file. We would recommend that you try this recovery method first before resorting to Brute Force method.
